Work 4.0 | Needs analysis and offers for manufacturing trades and companies
Shaping the working world of the future - in dialog with works council and workforce Information and communication technologies are increasingly finding their way into the world of work. This affects both production work (for example, using tablets to support work processes) and knowledge and development work, which is increasingly confronted with work distributed over time and space and increasingly complex products. With the digitization of work, social aspects of work design are coming into focus. Employees must be actively involved in the transition to digitalization, their working conditions and qualifications must be adapted, and changes in the world of work must be implemented jointly with the company's co-determination bodies. In doing so, corporate goals and the needs of employees must be reconciled. The aim of the project is to shape the potential of digitization for the world of work in a way that is humane and adds value. The aim is to achieve a balance between technical possibilities, organizational design and communication of change, as well as the effects on employees and their active involvement. To this end, results from research are transferred in a model-like manner into operational application at companies. The topics covered include cognitive assistance systems, participative technology design, learning and teaching platforms, and agile leadership and personnel development.

Problem
With the digitization of work, social aspects of work design are coming into focus. Employees must be actively involved in the transition to digitization, their working conditions and qualifications must be adapted, and changes in the world of work must be implemented jointly with the company's co-determination bodies. In doing so, corporate goals and the needs of employees must be reconciled.
Objective and Approach

The aim of the project is to shape the potential of digitization for the world of work in a way that is humane and adds value. The aim is to achieve a balance between technical possibilities, organizational design and communication of change, and the effects on employees and their active involvement. To this end, results from research are transferred in a model-like manner into operational application at companies. The topics covered include cognitive assistance systems, participative technology design, learning and teaching platforms, and agile leadership and personnel development.
Results and Values

Work package 1: Digital leadership: The aim of the sub-project was to identify changes in leadership tasks, competencies and culture. Based on this, support tools were developed to prepare managers as best as possible for the upcoming changes and to support a cultural change with regard to agile leadership methods. Work package 2: Cross-company learning platforms: The focus of this sub-project was on the development of needs-based, novel learning offerings to increase digital competencies that enable time- and location-independent learning. Work package 3: Agile organization: The aim of the sub-project was to identify the need for agile methods in manufacturing companies and, on this basis, to develop concepts for an agile corporate organization. In addition, transfer tools and recommendations for action for the introduction and stabilization of agile use cases were developed. Work package 4: User interfaces of assistance systems: The goal of the subproject was to implement (pilot) an augmented reality assistance function that dynamically adapts to process requirements and user (groups). Work package 5: Cognitive assistance systems: developed under the aspect of changing core competencies of individual employees. Together with associated companies and partners, the pilot project 'Digitization in Vocational Education and Training (DIBB)' was carried out, in which research results from the respective topics were prototypically transferred to industrial use and evaluated.
